Wine subscription: The French Cellar

Food and wine subscription services are popular in other parts of the world, but the concept is still relatively new in Singapore. A newcomer that’s testing the waters is The French Cellar, an online wine store that offers wine subscription plans starting from $79 a month.

If you like your wines selected by an expert, then this is the service for you: bottles are handpicked by Nicolas Rebut, former Chief Sommelier of 3-star Michelin restaurants Le Meurice in Paris and Louis XV (Alain Ducasse) in Monaco. Plans range from everyday drinking wines to cream of the crop vintages from iconic chateaus (see bottles from past months here).

How it works is simple: subscribers get two bottles of wine a month together with Rebut’s tasting notes so they can sniff, swirl and drink to their heart’s delight. If members like a particular selection they can reorder wine at a discounted price.

The company also regularly holds private flash sales of wines sourced directly from French vineyards.

Delivery: Free (included in subscription price)
