Before The French Cellar, how did you pick up French wines?
I started learning about wines with my universities' wine societies. In UCL, we had weekly themed tastings that ranged across regions and varietals. I then did my Masters in Stanford University, which had a terrific wine society. We enjoyed comparing Old and New World wines and took many drives up to Napa Valley. These experiences exposed me to all sorts of wines, not just limited to French ones.
As a result of these educational Thursday nights, Friday mornings were always a struggle for most of us.

Since when and why are you The French Cellar subscriber?
I don't exactly remember when I started but I think it was September 2015? (indeed!)The prices for well-curated wines are reasonable and the wines have been bang-on so far. I'm quite price sensitive plus you really can't get a better quality-price here in Singapore. I'm also looking to further my wine education, maybe even certification, which means I do need to expand my "knowledge" of all sorts of wine.
-
You are Vineyard Gems subscriber, which regions surprised you the most so far?
I'd say Bourgogne but that was only because I'm not too familiar with the region, which made me more excited when Bourgogne wines were delivered.
-
Why would you recommend The French Cellar to your friends and colleagues?
Picking out good wines can be a challenge to most people. Remove that uncertainty with The French Cellar!
Thank you Shao Jie!
Glad to have you in The French Cellar community
